Fortnite season 7 is almost upon us. Season 6's Primal theme provided for plenty of fun hunting wild animals, or being hunted by them, and watching the Fortnite map turn into a feral battlefield. So season 7 has plenty to live up to.
It turns out some sort of alien invasion will soon be underway in Fortnite. Players have started getting abducted by UFOs and their giant beams of light, then dropped elsewhere.
Let's not waste any time. Season 7 starts Tuesday, so here's everything we know so far, including battle pass details, teasers, event time, and much more.
Fortnite season 7 start date and 17.00 update downtime
The Fortnite season 7 start date is June 8, 2021. Downtime for the 17.00 update will officially begin at 2 AM ET. As is usual with season changes, Epic says the patch download will be larger than mid-season updates.
When is the Fortnite live event?
It's currently unknown if a live event is happening. We know we're getting the story trailer (posted below), but it's unlikely that a live event will happen since Epic hasn't said anything about start times or where to watch. Epic is usually excellent about letting players know exactly how to join in on live events, but since we've heard nothing beyond these teasers, we're assuming it's going to be a relatively hands-off transition.

Epic has posted a link that will go live with the Fortnite season 7 story trailer on June 7 at 11pm Pacific Time.
Fortnite season 7: "The Last reality" and aliens
Fortnite season 7 appears to be all about aliens, UFOs, the occasional abduction, and the ensuing mystery of life from outer space. After season 6's "Primal" theme introduced wild animals, dinosaurs, and towns made of bones (what is this, Bloodborne?), season 7 will need to go big to keep up our interest.
Epic started posting official teasers a couple days ago, ominously warning "They are coming." Now, following an ARG held in the Fortnite Discord, it appears season 7 may be called "The Last Reality."
In addition, they've started sharing what appear to be some new items or cosmetics.

Yup that's a Rick and Morty reference, and we're probably going to see a Rick & Morty Fortnite crossover this season. The butter robot is the butt of a small joke in the first season, and judging from the text in that tweet, he hasn't had much success moving other items around. We don't know yet if that means we'll see other Rick and Morty characters in the battle pass or sold throughout the season, but we can certainly hope.
Epic also posted this short video of a pair of glasses. The text makes me think this might be a reference to They Live, the 1988 sci-fi thriller starring Rowdy Roddy Piper and Keith David fighting against a world secretly run by aliens.
Or it could be a reference to Superman, who relies on his disguise as Clark Kent when he's not busy saving Earth. It would definitely line up with the alien theme, considering his heritage as a Kryptonian, and DC's established relationship with Epic.
As PC Gamer's own Natalie Clayton wrote, UFOs are starting to abduct players in or around the Risky Reels location. A seemingly random player is chosen from around the area, a bright light appears in the sky, and a translucent beam captures them. Several seconds after that, the player wakes up at a different location.

Epic has also confirmed that Primal weapons will disappear after the end of this season. So if you loved the extra damage those weapons dealt, tough luck.
Longtime data miner ShiinaBR has previously mentioned that some "Foreshadowing" challenges have been added into Fortnite's files, and that IO (the "Imagined Order" organization that Jonesy used to work for) could be related to them.
Not sure if this is already common knowledge, but it seems that I.O. is heavily related to the "Foreshadowing" challenges:This is the completion text for the "Investigate downed black helicopter" challenge:"India Oscar? Yeah, that don't fool me. I know IO when I see it."May 12, 2021
Fortnite season 7 battle pass
Details on the Fortnite season 7 battle pass are pretty slim right now. But we're fairly certain you'll be able to purchase the basic battle pass for 950 V-bucks, and the Battle Bundle for 2,800 V-bucks. Keep in mind that 1,000 V-bucks costs $7.99, but buying 2,800 V-bucks will cost $19.99.
Given the teasers we've seen already, it's possible that Superman, Rick and Morty, and other franchises may be feature as skins or other cosmetics. Whether or not they'll be in the battle pass or sold through the item store remains to be seen.
