Here are all the free games you can grab right now

There are an awful lot of free games floating around there right now, from Epic's weekly freebies to publisher promos on Steam, GOG sale giveaways, and more. Keeping track of them all can be tough, and you might be missing out.

That is not an acceptable state of affairs, so we've put together this running list of every free game that crosses our screens. The goal is to help you find and claim games that usually cost money, so free-to-keep and temporary promotions will be included and noted as such, but free-to-play games and others that are normally free won't be—for that, be sure to take a look at our categorized breakdown of the best free PC games.

Now let's get started:

Time-limited:

  • Naraka: Bladepoint - A 60-player battle royale with a striking visual style that focuses on mobility, melee combat, and special powers. (Steam open beta, runs April 26-29)

Free to keep:

  • Alien: Isolation - Elude a perfect, unstoppable predator stalking the cramped corridors of the grim space station Sevastopol in this remarkably good take on Ridley Scott's horror classic. (Epic Games Store, ends April 29)
  • Hand of Fate 2 - Master a living boardgame of infinitely replayable quests - unlock new cards, build your adventure, then defeat your foes in brutal real-time combat. (Epic Games Store, ends April 29)
  • Sludge Life - Fraser called it a "funky vandalism sim" but you could call this bizarre open-world adventure almost anything. It's free on the Epic Games Store for a whole year. (Epic Games Store, ends May 29)

Prime Gaming:

The games on Prime Gaming (formerly known as Twitch Prime) aren't technically free, since you need to be a Twitch Prime subscriber in order to take advantage. But there's a lot on offer if you are, including in-game loot and starter packs for free-to-play games, so it's worth keeping tabs on. Twitch Prime is included with Amazon Prime at $13 per month, or $120 per year; links to all Twitch Prime freebies are available at amazon.com.

  • The Escapists - Experience a light-hearted insight into everyday prison life—and do your best to bust out! (ends May 3)
  • Moving Out - Embark on a couch co-op journey and become a certified removals master. (ends May 3)
  • Move or Die: Couch Party Edition - An absurdly fast-paced, 4-player local party game where the mechanics change every 20 seconds. (ends May 3)
  • Before I Forget - A narrative exploration game about the life of a woman living with early onset dementia. (ends May 3)
  • Aces of the Luftwaffe - Squadron - An action-packed, vertically scrolling shoot ‘em up with a captivating and fully voiced narrative. (ends May 3)
  • Do Not Feed the Monkeys - A unique narrative-driven game where you observe dozens of stranger's inner lives, while you struggle to keep up to date with paying the rent and putting some food on the table. (ends May 7)
